Student Assistance Programme
Everyone needs a little help sometimes – and that’s ok!
We want to make it as easy as possible for our students to access support and alongside the support available at the Student Wellbeing Centre, we have also partnered with Health Assured to offer the Student Assistance Programme (SAP).
The SAP can support you with anything that is impacting on your mental and physical wellbeing.
You can call SAP, for free, at any time of day or night and speak to a trained and compassionate counsellor. You can also download the Wisdom app so you have access to help and support in your pocket! (use unique code MHA289405)
To get support whenever or wherever you need it just call 0800 028 3766.

Counselling
The SAP can offer up to 6 sessions of solution focussed therapy per issue.
To get things started, please contact the Health Assured team via the Wisdom app, and they can give you more information on the service. If you are enquiring about counselling, you would first need to have an assessment with them to ensure you are suitable for their counselling support.
Issues that solution focus therapy can help with can include relationships, managing stress and anxiety (plus many more!)
What happens when I call SAP?
Whatever time of day or night you ring, your call we be answered by a trained counsellor. The counsellor will take some details, including what university you’re calling from.
The counsellor will talk to you about how you’re feeling and help you to identify some strategies that might help. They might work through things like mindfulness techniques or recommend other resources you can use which might help.
Why should I download the App?
The App has a range of benefits. Not only can you arrange for a counsellor to call you back, speak to someone through live chat or arrange a video call; you’ll find a range of extra resources. There are videos and articles on topics from anxiety to wellness; mini health checks, breathing exercises and podcasts.
The main benefit of having the app on your phone is that it makes SAP accessible wherever and whenever you need some extra help!
Is SAP confidential?
SAP takes confidentiality very seriously but in order to ensure your safety, they will take some personal details when you call. They will only share information either with the Student Wellbeing Team, your GP or emergency services, if you ask them to or if they are worried that you or someone else is at risk. For more information please read the privacy notice at the bottom of this page.
Privacy Notice
he Health Assured support line is a separate service offered to students of the University of Lincoln. Health Assured provides a confidential service and the information you discuss with their helpline support workers is not routinely provided to the University unless your health, wellbeing or welfare is judged to be at imminent risk. In these circumstances and where the support worker thinks you need additional support they will seek your consent to share your name and information about their concerns with the Student Wellbeing Team so that they can provide you with further help. In some circumstances where you are not able to provide consent or where you refuse consent, Health Assured may still decide to share relevant information with the University where it is necessary to protect your or another person’s vital interests. This approach is consistent with the University’s student privacy noticewhich is available here.
