International students are allowed to work for a maximum of 20 hours per week during their course under their student visa conditions. The sections below give further details on when students can work full time depending on their programme of study.
All international students on an Undergraduate programme can work for a maximum of 20 hours per week during their course under their Student visa conditions.
They can only work full time hours during vacation periods which are Easter, Christmas and the Summer vacation.

All international students on Postgraduate Taught programmes can work for a maximum of 20 hours per week during their course under their Student visa conditions.
Postgraduate Taught students do not have a summer vacation period and so they are only allowed to work full time hours during the Easter and Christmas periods.

All international students on Postgraduate Research and MPhil/PhD programmes can work for a maximum of 20 hours per week during their course under their Student visa conditions.
They do not have any vacation periods and instead have holiday entitlement when they can work full time hours.
A research student can be recognised by the title of their course.
The course title will include:
MRes
MPhil/PhD
Or the course title will state ‘By Research’
