International students are expected to have made full provision for their tuition fees and living costs before embarking on their programme of study as a condition of their Student Visa (Tier 4 visa). Where a student experiences an unexpected event that causes financial difficulty or loss they may be able to receive support from one of the emergency funds below:
INTERNATIONAL EXCEPTIONAL FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FUND
If you are an international or EU student and are experiencing financial difficulties due to circumstances outside of your control you can make an application to this fund for a small amount of emergency assistance.
Please note that this is a limited fund and you will need to discuss your situation with a specialist adviser in the Advice Service initially who will then refer you for further consideration under the fund if appropriate.
To make a telephone appointment with a specialist adviser please email advice@lincoln.ac.uk
Emergency Repatriation Fund
This fund is to offer exceptional emergency support to an international student who experiences an unanticipated event which requires them to have to go home urgently. The student would be expected to be able to demonstrate that they cannot afford to pay for their own ticket as well as supply evidence of the situation. If approved, this fund may be used to purchase a travel ticket on the student’s behalf. These funds are not repayable by the students and this fund will be withdrawn once funds are exhausted.
