Eating Difficulties is a term used to describe a variety of ‘irregular’ eating habits or patterns that may or may not lead onto a diagnosis of a specific eating disorder.
It can be difficult to know what is ‘irregular’ when it comes to eating as we are all quite different. However if you or someone you know has noticeably changed the amount or types of food being eaten, have lost or gained weight, have significantly changed the time and frequency of meals or have become quite isolated when eating this could be due to some difficulties in your or their relationship with food.
There are a range of different reasons someone may alter the eating habits, and it does not always mean there is something wrong. However, if you would like to discuss this further with a professional, please consider speaking to your GP or an advisor at the Student Wellbeing Centre.
